The government, which has previously denied funding Perkasa, has indeed given an allocation to the Malay-rights group to organise a seminar.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim told Sim Tze Tzin (PKR-Bayan Baru) in a written parliamentary reply that a small allocation was given to Perkasa to hold a seminar entitled “Economic Transformation between race and nation is the core for unity,” for 5,000 participants.
“The Prime Minister has a 1Malaysia slogan which is supposedly meant to unite all the races in the country.
“But behind this sweet-sounding slogan, the Prime Minister is providing financial aid to the same NGO that has threatened to burn Bibles, hold demonstrations in front of churches and gave white ang pows during the Chinese New Year,” he said.
