Karpal said he was providing the king with evidence to strengthen his earlier request for the king to hold an emergency meeting with the council of rulers to discuss the matter.
A palace clerk received the recording on behalf of the king as the king is said to be overseas at the moment.
Karpal said Zaki had not denied the claims made against him, reiterating his challenge for Zaki to sue him to “clear his name”.
Last week, Karpal had played the recording both in parliament and at the lobby, in attempt to urge investigations into the matter.
The recording, reportedly taped on Nov 7, 2008 in Kuching, purports to show the chief justice’s admission to bribing court officials when he was a practicing lawyer in 1987.
On Khairy Jamaluddin, who has exchanged salvos with Karpal previously, Karpal said “I have no time for political juvenilles”.
