omong

what Malaysian public figures say and don’t say in the press

About

Our politicians utter a lot of statements that insult our intelligence, thinking that we have either short memory or do not think.

Well, we might have short memory but we do think. And to fix our short memory, I started this blog to ‘immortalise’ the statements made by the public figures in Malaysia.

‘Omong’ is a Malay word. It means chatter. ‘Omong kosong’ means empty talk, an adjective that I would use to describe most of our politicians say these days.

Occasionally, however, someone does say something sensible and I call these ‘omong bernas’ – talk with substance.

In June 06, I added a new category ‘jijik’ – which means disgust, a sentiment which our politicians evoke in a lot of people.
