Klang MP lodges report against Khir
Klang MP Dr Siti Mariah Mahmood has lodged a police report against former Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo for claiming that a Pakatan Rakyat component party was trying to ban mosques from broadcasting the azan (Mus-lim call to prayer) on loudspeakers.
She lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police station at 11am yesterday.
Dr Khir was reported to have made the statement, which appeared in a Malay daily on Tuesday.
Dr Siti Mariah claimed Dr Khir said that a Pakatan Rakyat leader was preparing a petition with residents in Puchong to get all mosques to stop airing the azan on loudspeakers, saying that this was not true.
She called on the people to remain calm and not be taken in by the wild accusations.
Dang Wangi police chief Asst Comm Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman confirmed that a report was lodged by Dr Siti Mariah.
Dr Khir has refused to comment since it was a police matter now.

Umno did the right thing, says Nazri
Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail was suspended from the party for three years and stripped of all party posts and membership rights for that period.
This was because he had caused uneasiness among the non-Malays when he said in a ceramah that the Chinese were only squatters in the country and not deserving of equal treatment. He has refused to retract the comment or apologise.
Nazri said although he is seen by others as an ultra-Malay, there was no way he could condone Ahmad’s comments and action.
“This man (Ahmad) put us in so much trouble. By saying that the Chinese were ‘squatters’ in the country, it is as if he was saying that they would have go back somewhere else. What good is it telling others that they are not wanted here. He is not a hero (for the Malays). He is a villain,” he added.
