Malaysian appalled by Dr Mahathir’s statements
I WAS appalled when I read the report “Dr M: Malays losing grip on political power” (Sunday Star, May 18).
What did Tun Dr Mahathir mean by his statements “…where non-Malays no longer respect them and their institutions” and “… power was in the hands
of the Malays and they could call themselves tuan” ?
I can’t believe that these statements were made by the former Prime Minister who was supposed to be a premier for all Malaysians not just the Malays.
I have always respected Dr Mahathir because I grew up only knowing him as Prime Minister but now I have different view. I think what he is doing now is only going to cause this beautiful, wonderful and peaceful country to be divided.
Please Dr Mahathir, give our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi a chance. Let us see how this new Government together with a strong opposition fares.
Let us work for the betterment of a peaceful and rich Malaysia where Malaysians, irrespective of race and creed can prosper.
Let us look at ourselves as Malaysians first and not Malays, Chinese, Indians or others. Let us make Malaysia home to each and everyone of us.
