Chan Kong Choy: we will improve system so that it is more efficient

Posted by omong on August 15, 2007

The Transport Ministry has admitted there are weaknesses in the demerit points penalty system that allows drivers to escape amassing “negative points” if they do not settle their summonses.

Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said the demerit points system, or Kejara, was currently the weakest link in terms of enforcement.

“We are looking into it seriously and efforts will be made to improve the system so that it is more efficient,” he said yesterday, in reference to why the bus driver involved in the Taiping bus accident was still allowed on the road even though he had 13 outstanding summonses.

  1. Government should take care of the rakyat.Pleaing to the government to stop it.If the driver is stop from
driving. How is he going to make ends meet.Increase the
the fines effective from 15th Oct2007-Speeding fines
will be RM 500-No bargin,No pay no renewal block.

  2. Hope the government will look into Dermits points
    seriously.It will burden a lot rakyat,when Kejara
suspend our license. They should change it higher
    compound.If you don;t pay renewal 100% blocked.
So RM 500 -RM800 or RM 1000-for simple offences.
